Our busy family practice is seeking a part- or full-time Medical Assistant who is highly motivated, friendly, outgoing and professional, loves to learn, works well under pressure, and provides courteous and friendly patient care.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent patient care, responding promptly, professionally and courteously to the patient’s needs.
  • Ensure security of patient’s Protected Health Information (PHI) and compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
  • Room patients, obtain and record patient vitals accurately, prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary equipment and supplies
  • Assist the providers as directed to complete patient prescription refill requests, obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies for prescriptions and medical procedures, send specialist referrals, order labs, and perform and document in-office tests and procedures
  • Obtain and maintain patient records and other information including patient medications, immunizations, medical history, allergies, lab results, specialist consultation notes
  • Call patients with results as indicated by the provider 
  • Maintains clean and stocked exam rooms, patient restroom and laboratory
  • Work a multi-line phone and text message system to triage incoming and outgoing medical inquiries
  • Assist in patient scheduling, accepting payments, sending and receiving patient medical and office forms, faxing, emailing, and filing
  • Provides efficient effective patient care in compliance with clinic policies and procedures
  • May assist with ordering lab or office supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Qualified to be employed as a Medical Assistant including any of the following training programs: National Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant credentials, Certified Nurse Assistant certification, Patient Care Technician experience of 2 years or more, phlebotomy certification, or an EMT or Advanced EMT license. 
  • Must be CPR certified (or obtain shortly after job start)
  • Must have full vaccinations, including COVID and eligible boosters, negative TB test.
  • Employee must not be convicted of or plead guilty to any felony or any misdemeanor related to patient services, controlled substances, sexual misconduct, assault, or any action taken from a position of trust
  • Must be able to type 40 + words per minute
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills 
  • Organized, attention to detail, dependable, punctual, strong work ethic and takes initiative
  • Must have excellent attendance and be able to adhere to our attendance policy
  • Works both independently and and with a team to create a positive work environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
  • Full time availability is preferred but part-time will be considered

Compensation

  • $17.00/hour, negotiable based on experience

  • Daily schedule typically between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm (most often 7:45 am – 5:30 pm)
  • 1 hour of Paid Time Off (PTO) for every 20 hours worked; may use accrued PTO after 90 days from the date of hire
